The galaxy is in turmoil as a separatist political party threatens to overwhelm the peaceful Republic. Senator Amidala, the former queen of Naboo, has arrived on the planet Coruscant to vote regarding military assistance for the Jedis, who are trying to restore peace. An assassination attempt is made on Amidala. She resists hieghtened security, but is pleased when her friends Obi-Wan and Anakin are assigned as her bodyguards. |

Anakin is diverted from Naboo after having several troubling dreams about his mother. He decides to seek her out. Anakin goes to the planet Tatooine, accompanied by Amidala, and learns that his mother has been kidnapped by a band of Tusken raiders. Leaving Amidala at his stepfather's farm, Anakin seeks out and finds the raiders. |

Amidala, Anakin, and Obi-Wan are imprisoned in Geonosis on orders from Count Dooku, a leader of the Separatist movement. They are sentenced to death in a public arena. |
Shaken by Anakin's burst of rage, the arena crumbles to the ground, killing many of the "bad" characters and miraculously avoiding the "good" characters. |
